Housing Accommodations

We want every student at ECU to have access to campus living. Students who need housing accommodations due to a disability may request them through Disability Support Services (DSS).

Housing accommodations are requested through the same Accommodation Request Process used for all other accommodations. DSS will work with students to understand their needs and determine appropriate accommodations. When housing accommodations are approved, DSS works closely with Housing to support their implementation.

Planning Ahead

Students may request housing accommodations at any time. However, early requests provide the greatest opportunity for approved accommodations to be implemented before housing assignments are made.

• Incoming students should submit housing accommodation requests by early April to improve the likelihood that the review process can be completed before housing assignments are made.
• Requests received after April will still be considered but may result in delays or waitlists.
• Housing assignments are typically made during the summer, and available housing options may become more limited after assignments are completed.

Emotional Support Animals (ESA)

An Emotional Support Animal (ESA) is considered a housing accommodation and follows the same accommodation request process described above.

Students may not bring an ESA into university housing until the accommodation has been approved by DSS and Campus Living, including the completion of all required paperwork and procedures.
