Whether or not the university is able to accommodate students for missed classes will depend largely on the nature of the course. Some courses have no attendance requirement, while others, such as labs and experiential classes have very strict policies. The university is unable to provide a blanket “university excused absence” during injury or illness. The student should first discuss their situation with their faculty member, any unresolved concerns should be addressed to the Dean of Students Office, (252) 328-9297 or DOS@ECU.EDU .
