ADA Syllabus Statement

ECU requires the following disability accommodation statement to be included in all course syllabi:

East Carolina University seeks to comply fully with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Reasonable accommodations will be made for students with verifiable disabilities. To take advantage of available accommodations, students must be registered with the Department for Disability Support Services located in Mendenhall 109, 252-737-1016. Additional DSS student resources can be found on the Disability Support Services website.

Referring Students to DSS

Students should be referred to Disability Support Services (DSS) when they:

• Disclose a disability.
• Inquire about accommodations.
• Request disability-related flexibility or support.
• Describe barriers that may be related to a disability.

Faculty may choose to provide flexibility or support within their courses when appropriate. However, students should still be referred to DSS when disability-related concerns or accommodation needs are discussed.

Students may request accommodations at any time.
